چکیده

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is recognized as a powerful analytical research tool for performance evaluations by obtaining empirical estimates of relations between multiple inputs and multiple outputs. In order to further embody the hierarchical structures of numerous performance evaluation problems in the DEA framework, a generalized multiple layer DEA (MLDEA) model is proposed, and its linear transformation is realized. Moreover, the weights within each category of each layer of the hierarchy are deduced, and different types of possible linear weight restrictions are discussed.

Considering undesirable variables in PCA-DEA method: a case of road safety evaluation in Iran

This paper presents a deterministic approach for performance assessment of different province’s road safety level at Iran. A data envelopment analysis (DEA) model considering undesirable input and output indices and a multivariate statistical method, principle component analysis (PCA) are used in this paper, while previous studies do not use composite PCA-DEA method and undesirable input and ou...

Efficiency Analysis of Road Safety Pillars by Applying the Results of a Structural Equations Model in Data Envelopment Analysis

Assessment of road safety performance of countries and their comparison is essential in guiding future decisions. The objective of this study is to search for effective safety pillars in road safety capacity strengthening based on the experiences of the leading countries. In this study, we first try to use the results of a structural equations model with partial least squares approach to select...

A Novel Approach to Evaluate the Road Safety Index: A Case Study in the Roads of East Azerbaijan Province in Iran

Road safety index is an important indicator that has been recently introduced as a useful tool to measure the quality of life in many countries and cities. Road safety index is a complex index and it has at least three main components, including road user behavior, vehicle safety, and road infrastructure effects. Many researchers have selected studying road performance from road safety index pe...

Performance Measurement of Decision Making Units with Network Structure in the Presence of Undesirable Output

In the performance evaluation process, using the classic data envelopment analysis (DEA) models, decision making units (DMUs) are considered as black boxes. While in many cases and different applications such as investment funds, banks, insurance companies, etc., DMUs have a network structure. In addition, in many network structures, some of the indicators used to calculate the efficiency...

An Integrated DEA and Data Mining Approach for Performance Assessment

This paper presents a data envelopment analysis (DEA) model combined with Bootstrapping to assess performance of one of the Data mining Algorithms. We applied a two-step process for performance productivity analysis of insurance branches within a case study. First, using a DEA model, the study analyzes the productivity of eighteen decision-making units (DMUs). Using a Malmquist index, DEA deter...
